Thank you for visiting my blog!
Let me tell you a little about myself and why I’m here. My name is Dacie. I’m a wife to a wonderful, supportive husband and the mother of two sweet little boys ages 4 and 6. The name ‘Momma Darlin’ comes from my youngest son. He called me that one day and it just stuck.
I’m not a doctor or scientist, I’m just a Momma bear learning about health for my family. I created this blog to share the things I’ve learned about natural health with others. But mostly, I did it for my husband and kids!
You see, I have a history of health issues. I have since learned that most of my health problems came from the foods I was eating and the toxic load I was putting on my body by the products I used to clean with and the health and beauty products I used to use. Most of those health issues disappeared when I changed my diet and chemical exposures.
Since marriage, my husband has delegated all grocery shopping and cooking to me. I’m totally on board with it too! Grocery shopping, making recipes, meal planning and making my own cleaning products is so fun! I love having the challenge of navigating through my old favorite recipes making swaps for healthier ingredients! Finding new ways to live our lives (toxic) chemical free is a challenge that I joyfully accept!
I want to teach my kids this stuff!
My mother-in-law once joked that my oldest was going to be the GMO police. Remembering her saying that a couple years ago and then hearing my 5-year-old politely ask someone if the food he was being offered had GMO’s in it was one of the proudest (and funniest) moments of my life! It meant he listened to me when I talk to him about this stuff and he actually cares what goes in his body!
I want to teach my Husband this stuff!
Not to sound morbid, but sometimes I think about what my family’s lives would be like if something were to happen to me and I end up meeting Jesus sooner than expected. Does anyone else think about these things, or is it just me? Anyway, I have discussed with my husband that I want him to continue serving healthy homemade meals long after I’m gone and he agrees that would be best. Usually, if I’m going to be away for any length of time, I either pre-make the families meals OR I have some homemade frozen meals ready to go. All he has to do is pop them in the oven and voila, dinner! Obviously, I can’t make enough frozen meals to last them the rest of their lives. That’s where the blog comes in! I wanted to make a digital list of recipes for my husband to browse through should he ever need inspiration for healthy meals and natural products like soap, bug spray and sunscreen. Then I got to thinking; if I’m going to spend all this time making a digital copy of all my healthy recipes for my husband and kids, there may be someone else out there looking for healthy recipes for their families too! This compilation of information should be available to everyone!
Please take your time to look around my blog. I truly hope you enjoy what you see! Let me know if there’s a topic or recipe you’d like me to cover! I enjoy researching and creating.
