Simple Sourdough Pizza

Finally, a sourdough recipe that doesn't involve any resting time or kneading!

  • 1 1/4 cup fed Sourdough starter about 300 grams
  • small drizzle of oil I used avocado
  • salt
  • herbs I used Italian herbs
  • pizza stone or cast iron pan


  • 3/4 cup sauce of choice
  • 8 oz mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 3 oz mushrooms


How to make the crust

  1. Put the pizza stone in the oven and preheat to 450F.
  2. Once preheated, add some oil the the pizza stone.

  3. Pour sourdough starter directly onto the pizza stone and spread to desired shape and thickness. 

  4. Lower oven temperature to 350F and bake for about 15 minutes.
  5. Remove from oven and drizzle with avocado oil, sea salt and italian seasonings.

How to finish up the pizza

  1. Top with sauce, cheese and toppings

  2. Bake until cheese is melted. It took this pizza about 10 minutes.
  3. Broil on high to brown the cheese. I did exactly 4 minutes. ALWAYS SET A TIMER FOR THIS PART!
  4. Let the pizza cool for a few minutes before slicing.

Recipe Notes

Note about sourdough: If you’re new to sourdough, you may be wondering what “fed starter” means. I’m sure I’ll make a post down the road all about the ins and outs of sourdough. For now, just know that a “fed starter” is made from an established sourdough starter that has been “fed” some flour and water and given time to ferment. Usually between 5 and 24 hours, depending on your house temperature and the time you have to spare.
