Super Simple Mashed Potatoes

This is the easiest mashed potato recipe I've ever made! Simple ingredients and simple instructions. It can't get any easier than this.

  • 2 pounds potatoes
  • 6 Tbsp butter
  • 2 Tbsp cream
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper


  1. Peel and rinse potatoes.

  2. Cut into 1 inch cubes.

  3. Add potatoes to a pot and cover with filtered water.

  4. Boil until fork tender and drain.

  5. Add the butter to the potatoes and mash together, but only go around the pan a couple of times. They don’t have to be completely mashed up just yet.

  6. Add the cream and go around the pan with the masher a couple more times.
  7. Add Salt and Pepper and mash a few more times until all ingredients are incorporated.

Recipe Notes

I use the lid of the pot to drain the potatoes, this way I don't have to wash a colander. 

No need for a mixing bowl, I like to use a hand masher and mash the potatoes directly in the pot. That's one less thing to clean up.

If you like your potatoes a little less lumpy, feel free to use an electric mixer instead.
